Finance Committee Meeting – WBSC 60th Anniversary Celebration

The Finance Committee convened on 5 June 2026 to review and discuss the key financial and logistical arrangements for the WBSC 60th Anniversary Celebration. The committee examined the transportation and vehicle requirements for the event, including the allocation of official vehicles, airport transfers, shuttle services for delegates, and transport arrangements for members of the Sangha, VIP guests, volunteers, and other participants. Budget estimates and cost-effective transportation solutions were also reviewed.

The committee further discussed sponsorship opportunities to support the successful implementation of the event. Potential corporate partners, government institutions, and private sector organizations were identified, and strategies for securing both financial and in-kind sponsorships were considered to strengthen the event's funding.

Special attention was given to organizing Sri Lankan cultural performances to showcase the country's rich heritage. Traditional Kandyan and Low Country dances, drumming, cultural processions, and folk art performances were proposed as key attractions for international delegates and visitors.

In addition, the committee discussed establishing a Sri Lankan Cultural Food Stroll within the event venue. The food area will feature authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, traditional sweets, regional delicacies, and live cooking demonstrations, providing delegates and visitors with an opportunity to experience Sri Lanka's diverse culinary heritage while supporting local food vendors and promoting cultural tourism.

The Finance Committee resolved to finalize the event budget, secure sponsorship commitments, coordinate transportation and cultural arrangements, and work closely with all relevant committees to ensure the successful, well-coordinated, and financially sustainable delivery of the WBSC 60th Anniversary Celebration.
